He was passed as medically fit on 21 January 1916 (it's unclear why his entry date is three months prior). However, there is a letter on file from Timothy dated 15th January and stamped received on 17th January requesting a medical discharge (it's not clear why he was certified fit after this date). He claimed to have had rheumatic fever, rheumatism in one arm, no teeth and other ailments. On that request, he was sent for medical examination and recommended for medical discharge on 24th, the doctor citing his having a mitral systolic murmur. He then exited the army on 4th February.

Note: Timothy's residence at the Queen Victoria Sanatorium, a specialist government supported isolation hospital for male consumptives on the Kings Tableland in the Blue Mountains, suggests he had a severe case of tuberculosis. The Sanatorium ran from 1903 to 1999, finishing as a nursing home as consumption became uncommon.
